Unfortunately a lot of people won't, and these guys will continue to get these movies green-lit. Ah well, I guess you have the bad in order to appreciate the good. Looks like it wasn't even screened for critics, by the way.
Whatever happened to the clever spoof movie anyway? Mostly died out in the 90's after Hot Shots, RH:Men in Tights, and one of my favorites - High School High.
I didn't like Walk Hard, but you're totally right - it was fairly clever and at least featured some acting talent. Might be time to research for a "Whatever happened to spoofs?" post...
