  1. I like this feature. I don't know if your familiar with Boogie Nights, but you should do either the drug bust scene or the opening of the film.

  2. Thanks, Mikey. It's been on a hiatus for a couple of months but I hope to get it back on track about once a month. There are endless options, as you know! Boogie Nights or any PTA movie is rife with potential. I might take one of Aimee Mann's songs from Magnolia. All depends on what I can find on the intertubes, of course. Even this clip was shortened from the original that I found (it was taken down), which is too bad because it put this clip in context a little better for those who haven't seen the movie.

  3. HELL YES! This is one of my favorite scenes that's ever been filmed ever. Ever.

  4. Wow - favorite ever! Well that's not that surprising since I think we share an appreciation for "true" hip-hop.

This movie wasn't that bad, really, but despite appreciating Taye Diggs and Sanaa Lathan, a better movie might have been made about strictly the music, particularly Mos Def's character.

By the way, not sure if you've checked out the new album by K'Naan yet, but I highly recommend it to anyone interested in a fresh, socially conscious voice. Should be considered one of the best early albums of 2009.

  5. Excellent choice. Though I don't understand why they included Jermaine Dupri in the montage. He doesn't seem to fit to me.

I liked this movie a lot, it reminded me of Love & Basketball - not just because of Sanaa Lathan. Maybe it's just because I love hip-hop and basketball though.

  6. Haha, I know - he's a total joke compared to the rest of these guys (to take nothing away from his producing skills - I like everything he's done with Mariah Carey).

Otherwise it's a rock solid group here, even though some "big" names are missing (but it's almost better that way).

Would have been kind of cool to have Grandmaster Flash actually pop up in this as well since everybody mentions him and he's still around.

Thanks a lot for stopping by and commenting!
