Well, it remains one of the films that many continue to name as the brothers' best, and depending on what day of the week I am asked, I often name it too. This great scene is a reminder!
I just find this one to be such a great example of dry Coen humor. The awkwardness of the body language, the accents, the humor, the lies. Hard to see how so many Minnesotans didn't see this as the obvious comedy it is when it was first released here.
Indeed. I love every scene involving Steve Park almost because they're so inconsequential to the rest of the movie, yet at the same time, establish so much about Marge's chracter and help set the overall tone. And, of course, they're uncomfortably funny as heck, ya know.
Exactly - this entire relationship could be removed from the movie, but along with it would go a good dose of humor as well as Marge's naivety. It's just a brilliant screenplay upon close examination.
