I recommend "The War Within", which was disappointingly overlooked.<BR/><BR/>"The Siege" was way ahead of its time, and has never received enough acclaim. It's also is significant for me because I'm pretty sure it's the first movie I ever went to alone. If I remember correctly, it's because you and Nicole stood me up at the theater. Thanks. I'm serious, it was really good that I had that experience.<BR/><BR/>To put spaces you can just hit return. I haven't figured out the html tag for italics works, though.Danielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05222052132452709301noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435253058176416288.post-35954956747699992522007-09-30T08:10:00.000-05:002007-09-30T08:10:00.000-05:00I have no idea how to put spaces which makes this ...I have no idea how to put spaces which makes this post even more unreadable. "It's just too bad The Kingdom couldn't taken itself seriously enough to offer any new ideas." I think the problem was more that they took themselves so seriously that they thought they were offering new ideas. The two lines at the end and the bullshit with Foxx talking to the American kid at the beginning and the Saudi kid at the end was downright embarassing in a movie that's idea of character development was Jennifer Garner playing "Girl Who Likes Suckers." Another big problem that I had with this movie was that it was boring. They spent about an hour working on "who killed everybody," when they already knew who did it, and even if they wouldn't have the climactic scene had nothing to do with their investigation anyways. When the action-movie ending does arrive it just made me wonder why they didn't just make that movie the whole time, rather than trying to be Syriana Lite. As far as the acting Chris Cooper was the lone bright spot. Bateman's character was obviously in the wrong movie, and I would agree that he was obnoxious, but in a movie so devoid of anything that worked at least he had some funny lines. Jamie Foxx was good as always, but what's the deal with this guy following up his Oscar with all of this crap. Flyboys, Miami Vice and now this. Even worse news is that Stevie Wonder is only 57 (my sole purpose for this post is a frickin' Jay Leno joke). My grade: D+ -Not to be a downer, but the guy who wrote this is also the writer for Lions for Lambs. Woo hoo. -Jeremy Piven needs to go away. -At about the hour mark when it was obvious that this was bad I kept thinking of a movie that did a good job of blending action and terrorism. The underappreciated and little-seen "The Siege," which imagined a world where terrorism would lead to the persecution of Muslims, an America paralyzed with fear, and a government that's response to terrorism is to immediately tear up the Constitution. Pretty far-fetched. I don't understand why this movie isn't held in higher regard.mnraulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06622872458008262164noreply@blogger.com
