Odd for a movie that has some pretty serious relevance right now.Danielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05222052132452709301noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435253058176416288.post-9748449408131069272008-07-28T07:21:00.000-05:002008-07-28T07:21:00.000-05:00Dan, you are the consumate DOC man, so I am not su...Dan, you are the consumate DOC man, so I am not surprised. It's great that you are following it through. I must agree with Whitner here (and yourself for that matter) on THREE BURIALS, which was a solid enough feature film.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435253058176416288.post-26877298195976625232008-07-27T22:05:00.000-05:002008-07-27T22:05:00.000-05:00Thanks, Sam. They may not be award winners but the subjects are typically timely and ripe for conversation. Plus they're free.

You know Whitney I didn't even know the movie was based on a real story until Scott mentioned it a couple of weeks ago. I liked The Three Burials overall (only saw it once), but now I'm curious about the adaptation - in the movie, I believe "Estrada" is an illegal immigrant killed by the U.S Border Patrol, while in real life, Hernandez was an American citizen killed by the U.S. military. Both are similar and tragic incidents, but the reasons behind and consequences of each shooting are completely different.Danielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05222052132452709301noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435253058176416288.post-3997284850641789642008-07-27T00:40:00.000-05:002008-07-27T00:40:00.000-05:00how did you feel about The Three Burials? As it was, it was almost like Magical Realism done horror-style.

-Whitneywhitneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06048153758556096552noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435253058176416288.post-31911429950712161452008-07-25T09:51:00.000-05:002008-07-25T09:51:00.000-05:00Well this is fascinating stuff, Dan. I am not surprised, what with your documentary expertise and affinity that you would run a feature thread on it. The events recall other unresolved political mysteries even as far back as the defining horror at the Grassy Knoll.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
